Day-of Interview To-Do List
The day of your interview is finally here! Here are some last-minute check-list items to make sure you establish a good first impression:
- Bring a padfolio or notepad with a working pen, extra copies of your resume, and a list of questions to ask the employer (see “questions to ask” for help creating a list of questions)
- Review your prepared STAR stories for common questions. Practice saying each story a few times out loud to get comfortable with your responses
- Practice your handshake
- Plan out your day ahead of time. Look up directions, parking, etc.
- Have the phone number of the person who set-up your interview on hand in case you need to contact them
- Do a last-minute social media check to make sure any public pictures and information are clean and professional
- Give yourself plenty of time to travel and arrive a few minutes early
- Before you enter the building, turn your cell phone off (or at least on silent - ringtones or vibrations can be an embarrassing distraction for both you and the person interviewing you)
